I keep seeing that blogs are back. Are they? I'm about to find out.
It's how I started out on the journey almost 20 years ago that led to an MFA in Visual Narrative. A blog I used to write called Lost in Queens led to creative writing classes, which led to diary comics, which led to art classes, which led to painting, which led to printmaking, which led to illustration, which led to visual essay.
None of that would have happened if I didn't follow my curiosity where it led me. On this page, I'll be posting about things that have captured my imagination and attention. Sparkly things. Like Jeremy the Crow in Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. Or a magpie. Apparently crows and magpies may not really be attracted to sparkly things. That the things they leave people who feed them are really gifts. That it's just a coincidence. No one knows for sure. It all depends on your perspective, I guess. How you choose to think about what you see.
